Rani Meyyammai Girls Higher Secondary School, established on 15 June 1961 by the Gandhi Nagar Education Society, has a proud legacy of providing quality education exclusively for girls. The institution was established under the generous patronage and visionary leadership of Padma Bhushan Dr. Rajah Sir Muthiah Chettiar. Originally known as The Girls High School, it presented its first batch of students for the SSLC examination in March 1962 and was subsequently renamed Rani Meyyammai Girls High School in 1968.The school was upgraded to a Higher Secondary School in the academic year 1978–79, marking a significant milestone in its academic growth
Mrs. Saraswathy Srinivasan, the founding Headmistress of the school, played a key role in establishing its reputation through her dynamic leadership. A recipient of both State and National Best Teacher Awards, she retired in May 1980 after two decades of dedicated and distinguished service.
